Hundreds of residence lost their houses in the severe fires which raged for days in the Western Cape. Storms made it extremely difficult for the firefighting resources to get the catastrophe under control which started on 6th June 2017. Knysna and the surrounding area was particularly badly affected with 10 000 inhabitants having to be evacuated.

The Express division of World Net opened a collection point for staff and clients to assist those affected with the most needed goods. “We wanted to help were we can and deliver the donations to the Knysna area, to the people impacted by this unexpected disaster.” Commented Grant Gietl, General Manager of World Net Express.

Fresh water, blankets, toiletries and non-perishable foods for humans and animals as well as baby formula, diapers and many other goods were collected in Johannesburg. In excess of 10 pallets were sent to the World Net branch in George and distributed to the disaster zone to help the victims.

“Our heart goes out to the inhabitants of Knysna and surrounding areas. We hope that the donations made the situation a bit more bearable for them. I want to personally thank all our clients and staff members for their overwhelming support.” Said Grant Gietl.
