Rhenus Logistics: Good change is coming

Posted by Maria Hofer

It’s hard to believe that it’s just a year ago that we were acquired by Rhenus Logistics. Until now, you may have seen the logo on our quotes, our website, as well as our new Warehouse in Durban North.

You may be wondering what’s next?

As with all acquisitions, the changes are mostly aesthetic and internal, but many Clients worry about whether being part of a larger organisation will result in standardisation, becoming “just another number”, losing the personalised service, as it were.

As concerning, could be losing the agility and flexibility which has enabled us to deliver solutions tailor-made to your specific requirements.

Well, here is the good news, and this is why we are extremely excited about being part of the Rhenus Logistics Group. Over the past 15 months, we have had time to “settle in” and get to know each other.

As a family-run business, the Rhenus Group is as decentralised as possible and as centrally organised as necessary. This is achieved as the members of the board of directors have been serving Rhenus’ Clients for more than 18 years on average. Together, the seven members of the board of directors manage the entire Rhenus Group. Consequently, this ensures that one member bears responsibility for each individual business unit. This mixture of shared responsibility, clear leadership and extensive experience enables quick, agile decision making, allowing us to retain our flexibility and responsiveness locally.

Rhenus is also extremely diversified: To be able to focus as much as possible on Client requirements, the Rhenus Group operates in 18 different business segments. At the same time, using the strengths and experience of the entire company to support our Clients.

With an annual turnover of EUR 5.5 billion, we are one of the leading global logistics service providers. Rhenus has 33,000 employees across 750 sites. The Rhenus Group offers solutions for a wide range of industries along the entire supply chain, including multimodal transport, warehousing, customs clearance, and innovative value-added services.

What does this mean for our Clients?

As one of our standout values, Client Centricity remains at the heart of who we are.

We endeavour to understand our Clients’ business and grow our future together as partners. Our deep understanding of logistics processes backed by our commitment to the ongoing development of our people ensures a strategic approach when developing solutions. The innovative spirit of our employees means we proactively solve challenges, which in turn helps to nurture long-term mutually beneficial relationships.

We are excited to be on this journey and hope you will be too. The synergies are tangible.
